ARRALD Program

The AAR Radiology Resident Academic Leadership Development (ARRALD) Program provides focused mentorship, leadership, and academic development activities to a group of high-potential second-year (PGY-3) diagnostic radiology residents in order to better prepare for their transition into successful careers as leaders in academic radiology. The program combines existing AAR sessions with specific program content in order to provide a curriculum that will enable the participating resident to hone his or her skills in leadership, teaching, and other tasks that will be of ongoing value in career development whether he or she end up in academics, or as a leader in private practice or industry.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ - AAR staff is applying for this credit. If approved, each physician attending this session. 


This program is open only to second year (PGY-3) diagnostic radiology residents with potential as a future leader. Only one second year resident per department can be nominated.

  • Participants must be AAR members.
  • Program participants will be required to register for the AAR Meeting.
  • A $1,200 stipend will be paid to each participating department to offset travel expenses.

  • Introduction to Leadership 
  • Junior Faculty Panel: Balancing Life and Career in Academic Radiology 
  • Critical Communication Skills and Conflict Resolution 
  • Networking in the Radiology Profession/Community 
  • Introduction to Process Improvement and Quality Tools

 

Your chairs acknowledgement of support of your participation is also needed. The request will be sent via email by the system. Only one candidate per institution may apply for each program, please allow enough time for your chair to respond with their support so that your application is complete prior to the deadline.
